LSR Students Protest Against Principal’s Video Appearance

The students at Lady Shree Ram College (LSR), Delhi University are protesting against the college administration after the video of principal speaking about Women Reservation Bill surfaced on the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) on its official social media page.

The core reason to protest is not the bill itself but the context in which the statement was used and published. The students are raising concern and protesting cause the principal’s video was shared on the official page of political party. They argued that even if the speech was informational, it’s appearance on political page creates the perception of alignment. Secondly, she spoke in a personal capacity meanwhile her designation as principle of LSR makes it functionally institutional, not personal.

Furthermore, the students in colleges like LSR are restricted from political activities, also these colleges officially say that campus should remain non-political meaning no political rallies, campaigns or party promotions in college spaces. So, the appearance of senior authorities on party platforms becomes the topic contradiction.

Now students are not only demanding the clarification or removal of that clip from platform but also the transparency in system. Additionally, they want an assurance from the system that the students will not face any disciplinary action for protesting in future as well as the college must truly stay politically neutral.
